- The event opens on Friday for 3 exciting days of Dressage
competition showcasing some of the finest horses in the world. International
level riders representing the United States and other countries vie for prize money,
valuable awards and the chance to compete in national and international championships,
including the 2008 FEI Dressage
World Cup,
2007 Pan American Games Selection Trial, the 2007
USEF National Grand Prix Championship
and 2007 USEF National Intermediare
I Championships. We are also proud to host the USEF/Markel
Young Horse Dressage Eastern Selection Trial for the 2007 FEI World Breeding
Championships for Young Horses in Dressage. For a general schedule of classes and activities and for a list
of the horses and riders who will be competing in the CDI-W/Y/J, click on the "Competition Schedule" button to
your left. For a specific list of classes to be held each day, click here.
-
- Throughout the event, our Trade Fair will feature a wide variety of
vendors, offering everything for horsemen and spectators, from sportswear and saddlery to
arts and crafts. At NCDCTA's Used Tack and Apparel Exchange, find
bargains-galore on all those items needed by new riders and horse-owners.
-
- A Silent Auction will be held during the show, with many exciting
items such as tack, artwork and stallion breeding certificates offered to the highest
bidder. Bids will be closed and winners announced on Sunday.
-
- A favorite attraction again this year will be the Children's Festival. On
Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm young horse enthusiasts can learn about horses from the
experts. Visitors to the Festival will hear about breeds, safety, grooming, horse care and
more, with "hands-on" opportunities to pet, groom and ride a pony.
-
- Due to the huge number of entries at this year's show
there is not time for any special exhibitions, but there will be LOTS of
exciting rides in the competition for you to watch. If you
prefer enjoying the Saturday evening activities in a comfortable atmosphere with bar and
hors d'oeuvres, inquire about our Grand Prix Club - the perfect
complement to a great weekend!
-
-
At selected times during each day's performance, attend "A Judge's
Viewpoint", where well-known judges offer a running commentary on each ride.
This is a great opportunity for riders as well as spectators, but sign up early, space is
limited.
On Saturday evening at 6:30 there will be a pizza party for Jr/YR competitors
(and any other Jr/YRs who are attending the show that day) sponsored by
NCDCTA in the Hospitality Barn. Special
Guests will be George and Roberts Williams. George is the USDF Vice President
and an active member of the USET and he will be the guest speaker.
Roberta is chair of the USDF FEI Jr/YR Council and can answer any
questions on those USDF programs. Get to know
your fellow Jr/YRs and let NCDCTA know what programs and opportunities
you are most interested in having in North Carolina.
